week three: sleep, sleep and more sleep
This week was one that spent mostly with eyes closed. I slept, a lot. A lot more than I'm proud to admit. I got into this habit of parking in the far away lot, then re-parking my car to a closer lot after my first class, and then once I parked, I was faced with the decision of sleeping or spending money on food (because who has time to make food before a 7am shift). In the end, sleep always won. I wasn't really sleeping a ton, but I would definitely just lean my chair back, grab my fluffy pillow and my elephant blanket and that was it. I would just knock out until my phone alarm would go off. My professor summed up week three perfectly: "It's starting to feel like you've worked so hard and you're near the end, but it's not at all the end, because you still have 15 weeks left." I definitely am starting to feel really unmotivated and tired and honestly, just uninspired. I have to keep my pace consistent and not burn out so easily in the beginning of the week. By the time Tuesday rolled around, I was already over my school week. I was starting to feel like I was struggling-- my notebook was full of papers that were already beginning to fall out, someone took my seat (after three weeks!!!) in one of my classes, I found it difficult to eat full meals/eat at all, and my arch was acting up on my right foot. Want some cheese with that whine?
I was a bit of a baby this school week but it's probably because I was really looking forward to a fun day with my boyfriend at the end of the week, which turned out to be super fun and absolutely everything I wanted in a pre-Valentines daycation. It was cut super short at lunch time though when we were an hour from home, eating seafood that we had very little appetite for, and we realized we were exhausted. We went back to his house and took a much needed nap (all the cuddles!) and then made some amazing kimchi fried rice based off of one of our favorite restaurants, Urban Seoul. The fried rice was super good (it made for leftovers two days in a row), and I'll be sure to post a picture once I have the time to edit this post. It didn't stop there though! The next day, he showed up at my house with flowers, a sweet card, and my favorite chocolates -- dark chocolates from Ghiradelli. I had scored some delicious steaks from my local grocery store at a killer price and we had steaks with mashed potatoes. Again, a super delicious sight so I'll be sure to post a picture once I can.
The tail end of the weekend was both relaxing and boring as I have done one thing on my to-do list which was to begin an online quiz for a class. I also managed to wash my bedding and almost finish up my laundry. I finally forced myself to get out of the house after lounging in bed practically all day, with my mom getting upset that I wasn't coming downstairs to eat (I was simply sleeping... all...day) and took myself to Target to buy some things that were sort of on a list, sort of not, but either way I bought things that will make me happy! Like naked juices and bagel chips with cream cheese.
I'm looking forward to week four, this time I will be diligent and try to do one thing from each class every day and finally get started on my internship hours! I also plan on getting more sleep and eating so that I don't feel like passing out every two days. I kind of have weaned myself off of coffee again so there's that. I always forget to attribute my headaches to the lack of caffeine and just take two advil and try to sleep it off.
Also, on an unrelated note, I am going to try to get my hair a little bit more softer this whole week. It's been crazy brittle and very dry, which makes for brushing hair a pain and having my hair down quite unlikely. I just gotta keep trying to take care of myself.
see you next week!
