three month update: so overdue!

Updates incoming!

April was when I last left you. I was in the middle of talking about my upcoming graduation plans, the summer plans I had, as well as any left over feels looming about during the last weeks of undergrad.

May came quickly and I started the month off by celebrating my favorite person’s 22nd trip around the sun with rumchata (horchata + rum) and some other food that I can’t really recall. Just know it was damn good. Soon after, May turned into a tumultuous month filled with final exams, late study nights & early study mornings coupled with copious amounts of tacos from across the street and so much boba. The end of May was marked by a few celebrations, including my sister finishing her first year of undergrad and coming home for the summer as well as family flying in for my college graduation. Let’s just say that I don’t remember how I got into bed that night but woke up feeling a-ok regardless! Also, my eyes have never experienced pain like when a fake eyelash is poking into your inner eyelid. And I thought dirty contacts hurt.

Soon after May came the arrival of June, the month that welcomes dry heat like a good friend along with the unwelcome arrival of the June bugs. I should mention that I did not encounter any June bugs until July, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Why are there June bugs in July? I learned from a friend that June bugs in the home can be prevented if you just punch them from the doorway while they’re flying outside. Makes sense. June also brought my final semester of college, which I did not pass with flying colors but definitely passed. Thanks to summer school, I know way too much about the Hmong and the Romani than I care to admit. It’s cool, it’ll come in handy at some point...I think. The final thing that June brought to me was a job opportunity, which I pounced on and was offered a position in like, record time. I applied on a Saturday, was called on a Monday, had a phone interview Tuesday, then went in for a in-person interview that Thursday, and was hired within the thirty minutes after the interview had ended. It was all a blur but it’s been a great adventure so far!

So now we’re in July, and July is almost over! This coming weekend marks an important time in my family’s history because we’re having a reunion! I actually get to bring Joshua this time, which is a pivotal move, since boyfriends aren’t usually invited, or allowed. I’m really looking forward to it because I’ll be in the mountains where there are freshwater lakes, food that’s already made, and lots of cousin time. As excited as I am, I’m trying really hard to not think about the 9ish hour drive that it will take to get there. Whatever, I’ll be in good company both ways so I think it’s a win-win.

Some other news that hasn’t really ever been mentioned on here include my decision to move in with my boyfriend this coming September! It’s our first time moving in together and there were many hurdles to get over so that this could happen, but like any strong couple that is determined, we have and will continue to get through these hurdles together. I’m super excited and have been watching way too many food videos, videos that I probably won’t even remember in a few days time but... it’s the thought that counts, I guess? I think my next post will include some of the things I’d like to buy and where I might want to buy them, so I’ll have products with links in the next post.

Thanks for stopping by, it isn’t goodbye forever! I always come back :)
