week four: MIDTERMS ARE COMING

Week four was super crazy - I kind of worked more than I had planned to and I ended up missing two of my classes oh AND MY CAR'S BATTERY TOOK ITS OWN LIFE.

I was a bit more diligent at packing myself some food and I also took it upon myself to order a new water bottle (hydroflask-esque) and basically try to get some kind of routine back into my life. While I was at my morning job, I was much less chipper, I was forcing myself to get through the hour and a half some days and I was not sleeping as well as I have in the past. I think that was just a rut I was in for that particular week but the kids definitely noticed.

It was a bit more stressful - I left my purse at the house and had to drive back home before class to get it so I could have money and my license on me, but ran out of time to make it to my 1 PM class so I ended up going home and eating, napping, and relaxing before I had to tutor. It was a little stressful because I didn't keep up with the class so by the time I attended the next class meeting, I was a class behind. I'm all caught up now, but I feel like I missed out on some information that could have made the lecture easier. In addition to leaving my purse at home, I had to cut my last class of the week an hour short, so I missed out on easy points and a student-led lecture that I really enjoy being a part of.

But it wasn't all stress. I balanced my time between friends and my boyfriend this week which is something I hadn't done in a while - be with both my friends and my boyfriend within the same week - and it was something I had missed. On Tuesday, a friend and I joined some others for drinks at a wine bar in this nice part of town and even though I ordered way too much food, I ended up having a great time! I ordered a cider and drank it all by myself, which means I didn't look at my friend and beg her to help me finish it, and I still had an appetite for all the food I had ordered. We then followed up that outing with another one on Saturday, where we attended a concert that I wasn't particularly too big a fan of, but went because my ticket was free and yay friends! It ended up being much more fun than I had anticipated and wished I could have stayed longer. The following day I had to babysit for a family I hadn't seen in a while, and that ended up going well, too! The mom understood I had a crazy night out the day before and was offering me both food and coffee.  Just overall pretty good. Maybe a couple things could have gone better, like me not forgetting important things like my wallet and not missing class...among other things. But such is life! As my dad said, "Sest La Vye" instead of "C'est La Vie"...

Today was productive in its own special way, as I helped my student understand how to add improper fractions, convert units of measurement, and why there were so many dang Missions in California. I also got to FaceTime my best friend who lives in Berkeley (that word took four tries) and we basically covered all the bases and talked for close to two hours. It was a good time. I also had a fantastic honey vanilla latte which was divine. I don't think I've wanted a latte more. Very little studying was done, but we did get some studying done today, so I think that's what I'll focus on! I ended up missing an assignment which I'm still kicking myself for, because it was open for three days and I just kept putting that off. I can't fall behind! I'm doing okay, but I think I can do better...

Week five will be better!
